The 6th Annual Schools, Health & Libraries Broadband Coalition (SHLB) Conference will be held April 27-29, 2016 in Crystal City, Virginia. The focus this year is on E-rate Compliance, Lifeline Reform, Telehealth, and Fiber Build Out, as well as other policies and funding programs that will impact broadband deployment for anchor institutions and communities.
Julia Pulidindi, Advantage's Broadband Analyst, will moderate a panel on Friday, April 29th, on The Impact of Lifeline Reform on Wireless Consumers. The FCC has proposed to modernize the Lifeline program to support broadband. Low-Income consumers find wireless service to be most attractive, and approximately 90% of the current Lifeline program support flows to wireless companies. The new FCC Order allows support for stand-alone wireless broadband service, but it poses some special challenges for wireless companies and voice consumers. This panel will explore how the revised Lifeline program will impact wireless consumers and companies.
